Biographies

Dr. Gro Trondalen, PhD, SET, MA-MT, Fellow of AMI, is a Professor in Music Therapy and a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Research in Music and Health (CREMAH) at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, Norway. Dr. Trondalen is a former Head of CREMAH, the MA program in music therapy, and the PhD program in music at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She is an experienced music therapy clinician and supervisor in child welfare and adult mental health and maintains a private practice in The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM). Dr. Trondalen has a PhD in music therapy with young people suffering from Anorexia Nervosa. Her research focus has been on practical work linked to philosophical and theoretical perspectives within the discipline of Music and Health. She has published seven anthologies/books and several Norwegian, Swedish, and English articles, of which some have been translated into German and Japanese.

Dr. Trondalen is a distinguished international research leader who has established an international reputation with her broad and scholarly expertise related to innovative leadership e.g., developing theory, particularly in terms of music and relationships. Based on her reputation of bringing a high level of values (ethics, philosophy, theory) to the research stage, she has a standing as a leader with the highest level of theoretical and philosophical expertise.

Dr. Trondalen’ s broad competencies demonstrate by extensive publications in high-impact journals, foreign translations of publications, strong citation data, editorial board appointments, and invitations to participate in international research meetings that contribute to setting the future agenda within the discipline of Music and Health. The impact of Dr. Trondalen’ s work demonstrates by invitations to speak at prestigious international conferences

Additionally, Dr. Trondalen has won several awards, such as the European Music Therapy Award (2013) for outstanding contribution to European Music Therapy (w/Prof. Stige), and The Tony Wigram Fellowship Travelling Fellowship (2021). She is also appointed Membro Onorario at the InArteSalus, Schuelo de musictherapia (2019), Schio, Italy.

Dr. Trondalen has initiated- and been the Director of Centre for Research in Music and Health (7 years) at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Her expertise as a researcher, leader and manager are evident in her international, national, and local activities.

Andreas Sønning is a professor at the Norwegian Academy of music (1987-) and a visiting professor at several universities in Norway and across Europe. Since 2010 he has been part of the building and running of several EU-funded networks for renewing higher music education and implementing innovation and entrepreneurial projects on a transversal basis. Sønning has also toured as a flute soloist and chamber musician and worked as an artistic director throughout the last 30 years in a. o. Scandinavia, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, France, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, Slovakia, and the USA – often premiering new works for the instrument.

Sønning’ s s approach to teaching and learning supports the students in developing new ideas and production concepts through the artistic development of the program composition, including rehearsals and performance practices. Where possible, the musical productions connect to real entrepreneurial practice for the students, including establishing value chains (diversified competence teams) and value systems (including income sources such as funds and paying customers/audiences.) Sønning draws on real cases from personal and professional experience to illustrate possibilities and challenges related to artistic development, planning processes, project management and interdisciplinary teamwork. His presentations also nurture and identify key research issues for further understanding and development regarding education for entrepreneurship in music.

Sønning is the author of the academic textbook: ‘Creative Concert Production and Entrepreneurship: Concert Dramaturgy and Project Development for the Performing Arts, Routledge NY, 2023.

He has undertaken projects in over 28 countries with performing organizations such as the Kennedy Center and National Gallery, Washington DC, Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lille (France), The Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the New Japan Symphony Orchestra. Since 1994 he has been the artistic director for his own production company, Sønning Music Performance, SMP. With his company, he has been in charge of building festivals in Norway and France and developed cultural programs for international cultural institutions, Norwegian authorities and multinational companies like Telenor, Nordea, Total E&P Norway, and Hydro. With a concept called “The Integrated Model,” he has, with his long-term private sector partner Telenor (1994-), received several prizes as European Award for partnerships in Arts and Business, Brussels 2004 and the Award for Equal partnerships, Arts & Business Oslo 2009. Sønning is a Member of the Agder Academy of Sciences and letters.

Dragoș Andrei Cantea

Dragos is a concert pianist, cultural entrepreneur, lecturer and Artistic Director of Classix Festival.

Dragoș is a soloist of some top philharmonics in Romania (Iași, Bacău, Sibiu, Oradea), performing in the past with orchestras such as the Masque Chamber Orchestra at St. James’ Piccadilly in London. He collaborated with conductors such as Fergus MacAlpine, Ștefan Novak, Radu Popa, Ovidiu Bălan, Pawel Kapuła or Cristian Mandeal.

He is a triple graduate of the George Enescu National University of Arts (UNAGE) in Iasi, at the Bachelor, Master’s and Doctoral levels, under the guidance of Ioana Stănescu and Dan Prelipcean.

He is also an alumni of the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, at the classes of Håvard Gimse and Kathryn Stott, with the project “Nationalism in music – an artistic-diplomatic tool for mutual understanding of common values”.

In 2020 he Co-Founded Classix Festival, today one of the largest independent classical music festivals in Eastern Europe.

He was a member of the jury of the Quatre Music Youth Piano Competition in Singapore in 2021, where he also held masterclasses for the finalists of the competition.

Dragoș is also a beneficiary of mentorship and scholarship programs such as Roche Continents 2018, Act in Art 2019, or the Rising Leaders program of the US Embassy in Norway, in collaboration with AmCham Norway.

Dragoș published numerous musicological articles in the National Musicological Studies of Romania.

He is a promoter of innovation in art, staging syncretic concepts with actors or visual artists, often also supporting charitable causes in the Romanian space, especially in the area of education.

Munster University Cork, Ireland

Gerard ODonovan, Head of Faculty for Business and Humanities

Gerard O’Donovan is Head of the Faculty of Business and Humanities at Munster Technological University, Cork Campus where he is responsible for the strategic direction, people management and operation of the Faculty.

During his 18 years at CIT, he has held a number of senior positions, including Head of School of Business, Head of the Department of Accounting & Information Systems and founder of the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence. Prior to academia, his industry experience includes work in retail, human resources, IT and consultancy roles in Ireland and the USA.

He holds a B Comm (Hons) from University College Cork and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University, USA. Gerard serves on a number of advisory and foundation boards.

Dr. Breda Kenny is head of School of Business at Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland. She is responsible for the effective management of the School and its constituent departments. She was the former Head of the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence and has 25 years lecturing, and research experience in entrepreneurship, international business and management. She has developed and delivered entrepreneurship education curriculum for masters and doctoral students as well as for entrepreneurship educators. She has many years’ experience acting in the capacity of external examiner and reviewer at module and programme level for undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education programmes. Breda has led and project managed a number of EU funded programmes under Interreg NPA, Interreg Europe, Erasmus Plus, Daphne and Leonardo da Vinci in the areas of entrepreneurship education, business development, regional innovation strategies, senior and female entrepreneurship. She is involved in research supervision and external examining to PhD level. She is Editor in Chief of the International Journal – Small Enterprise Research.

She has published in international peer reviewed journals such as R & D Management, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, Industry & Higher Education, The Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development and Small Enterprise Research. In Europe, Breda was elected to the board of the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB) from 2013 to 2019. In 2018, she was appointed as external expert evaluator to the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT). In 2019, she was reappointed as rapporteur by EIT for evaluations for Masters and Doctoral programmes. She was appointed by the European Commission as an Evaluator for the H2020-SwafS-2019-1 single submission call. In Ireland, Breda is a Chair of the Campus Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Network (CEEN) Initiative, co-founder and director of Surecom NS Ltd, and director of the Rubicon Incubation Centre.

My name is Emmett Coffey and I am a lecturer in the Media Communications Department in MTU Cork. I am one of the founding members of European Creative Futures (ECF) and have been involved with the programme each year since its inception in 2009.

I am the Programme Co-ordinator for the MA in Public Relations with New Media in MTU Cork. I lecture across a number of degree programmes including the BA programmes in Creative Digital Media, Visual Communications and Marketing. I am a thesis supervisor for MA students in the Media Communications Department and I am an external examiner for the Diploma in Public Relations, run by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII), the professional body for public relations and communications professionals in Ireland.

I have a particular interest in innovation and entrepreneurship and have delivered modules on these topics in the Media Communications Department for many years. I am a member of the ACE (Accelerating Campus Entrepreneurship) network in MTU Cork which seeks to promote entrepreneurship and enterprise education across all MTU campuses. In addition to my involvement with ECF, I have delivered programmes in entrepreneurship and enterprise studies in Vietnam and South Africa as part of various MTU teaching delegations. I am particularly interested in entrepreneurship in the creative industries and the workings of creative enterprises – an area I am in which I am currently undertaking research. I am a founding member of Story? – an international student documentary film festival run annually in MTU Cork.

Before becoming a full-time lecturer, I was a secondary school teacher (teaching Business, Economics and Media Studies), a journalist and a public relations consultant. I continue to hold a strong interest in professional communications and public relations consultancy through my involvement with the Public Relations Institute of Ireland.

Frank O’Donovan

Frank O’Donovan is a lecturer in the Media Communications Department at Munster Technological University (MTU) and has taken part in the ECF programme for the past 13 years. He teaches in the areas of Media, Journalism and Communications, having worked as a journalist in Ireland for 22 years.

He lectures on the MA in Public Relations with New Media, the MA in Journalism and Digital Content Creation, the BA in Creative Digital Media and the BA in Visual Communications in the Department of Media Communications.

In recent years he has completed ‘Coaching in Higher Education – A European Coaching and Mentoring Council (EMCC) Accredited Foundation Level Course in Coaching’. His research interests include the future of media education and coaching in third level education.

Frank is also the director of ‘Story? – International Student Documentary Festival’, which is based at MTU. For the past four years the festival has featured documentaries made by Irish students along with students from all over the world.

Brent Meheux MA, Head of Visual Communication and Applied Arts School of Art, Design and Fashion

Brent is Head of visual communication and applied arts and is the course leader for BA (Hons) Graphic Design. He is also an external examiner at Newcastle College. He has almost 20 years of experience in education and has taught on a wide range of courses in the area of visual communication over this period. Brent has a great deal of experience writing and validating courses, from undergraduate and postgraduate, to new and innovative distance learning options.

Whilst industry-focused in his research, he is also internationally minded, undertaking a great many research trips, both with students and with colleagues, to seek out best practice in pedagogy. He is currently studying for his PhD and is at present looking at the role of the creative in the process of creating memorials to conflict, in particular the role of Creative’s who have firsthand knowledge of such conflicts. Brent still maintains his professional practice which covers a wide range of visual mediums, from photography, through illustration and graphic design to sculpture. His work is shared widely online, and he has shown nationally and internationally. Brent’s varied teaching experience coupled with his industry experience, provides him with a well-balanced perspective on higher education and a unique skill set. Paul Rutter: Winchester University, is a longstanding music industry educator, writer, musician, internationally published songwriter, composer and music producer. He is author of The Music Industry Handbook, and chapter author in The Film Handbook, alongside primary editor and chapter contributor in Creative Concert Production and Entrepreneurship published by Routledge.

Paul is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Senior Lecturer at the University of Winchester, UK in music performance, production and culture. Paul is Emeritus Associate Professor and former Head of Music at Solent University Southampton. He has presented internationally on the music industries and music culture in Europe and Overseas and is a Visiting Professor in Music Entrepreneurship at ETIC School of Innovation and Creation in Lisbon, Portugal. His song writing credits include ‘Heaven Can Wait’ featuring Paul Young, David Gilmour and Chaka Khan, released worldwide by Sony Music. Paul is a regular on-air guest contributor, commentator and research consultant in BBC regional and online media concerning popular music industry and culture.

HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht

Roderick Udo MSc is an expert in creative entrepreneurship and financial decision making in cultural enterprises. He combines over 15 years of experience as an artist manager and festival organizer in the popular music sector with academic knowledge on entrepreneurship and finance. Roderick is a financial economist with a strong interest in entrepreneurial attitudes, decision-making and the creative and cultural sectors.. He obtained his master’s degree in International Economics and Business at Utrecht University. Since 2008 he is a researcher and lecturer at HU University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Over the past 15 years Roderick has been involved in popular music festivals in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, either as a creative director or as a production manager. During this period, he also ran an artist management company, working with artists from many different countries. In these roles he closely observed financing dilemmas in the popular music sector, and by combining these observations with his background in financial education, Roderick developed a strong interest in financial decision-making in creative careers. This resulted in a PhD research project on financial decision making in the popular music sector in Europe, which he started in 2019.

Dr. Daniel Nordgård is associate professor at the University of Agder. He has a broad background from music, foremost as musician and artist. Nordgård recently finished his doctorate in music with the dissertation: Determining Factors on Digital Change in the Music Industries (2017). He teaches music business at the University of Agder’ master’s program on music management and works as a senior researcher at NORCE, a private research institute. His research is very much devoted to the music industry and the cultural industries, with a special emphasis on digital change. In 2013 Nordgård was appointed by the Norwegian Government to lead their committee on music streaming and digital change in the music industry and wrote the report from the Committee. He was also member of the COST-financed network: Dynamics of Virtual Work, looking at digitalization and work. He holds several positions in different boards, nationally and internationally, including Gramo (Norwegian collecting society for recording artists and record companies), The Norwegian Film Institute, Gramart (The Norwegian featured artist organization). He also sits on the board of the International Music Business Research Association (IMBRA).

Cristian Andriș is a Romanian-Swiss violist born in 1984 in Timișoara, Romania. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies at the „Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía” Madrid, „Hochschule für Musik” Freiburg, „Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana” Lugano and „Hochschule für Musik und Theater” Hamburg, studying viola with teachers like Wolfram Christ, Bruno Giuranna, Gérard Caussé, Marius Nichiteanu, Diemut Poppen, David Quiggle and Jensen Horn Sim Lam. During his studies, Cristian participated in masterclasses with world renowed violinists such as Tabea Zimmermann, Hatto Beyerle, Hartmut Rohde, Wolfram Christ, Walter Küssner, Barbara Westphal, Andra Darzins, Tanja Christ and Gruia Dan Mitu.

In 2019 he was awarded, with the highest distinction, the title of Doctor in Music by the National University of Music in Bucharest. In July 2021 he obtained the Certificate of habilitation from the Ministry of Education and the position of viola associated professor at the West University Timișoara – Faculty of Music and Theater, where he has worked since 2014, and since November 2022 he is the Director of the Doctoral School for Music and Theater. Cristian also offers masterclasses in Romania and abroad, and his students work in some of the most important philharmonic orchestras in his native country, pedagogy being an important aspect in his career.

As a soloist he has performed with the Romanian National Radio Orchestra, „Orquesta Filarmonía Madrid”, „Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra”, National Youth Orchestra of Romania, „Banatul” Philharmonic Orchestra Timișoara, „Transylvania” Philharmonic Orchestra Cluj and Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra.

As an orchestra musician, Cristian performs as principal viola in the „Swiss Orchestra” and the „Romanian Chamber Orchestra”, and collaborates with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble whose artistic director is the famous violinist Daniel Hope.

Cristian has performed in various chamber music groups with world renowned musicians including: Robert Cohen, Boris Garlitsky, Gerhard Schulz, Dorin Marc, Alissa Margulis, Latica Honda Rosenberg, Isabel Charisius, Felix Renggli, Răzvan Popovici, Bernhard Hartog, Liviu Prunaru, Wolfram Christ, Andra Darzins, Marin Cazacu, Olaf Maninger, Marc Bouchkov, Alexander Kerr, Alberto Menchen, Alexander Buzlov and Ulrich Wolff.

Starting with 2019, he is the artistic director of the „Romanian Chamber Orchestra”, an ensemble that brings together under the baton of maestro Cristian Măcelaru some of the most important Romanian musicians working in the country and abroad.

Dr. Andreea Mitan is a lecturer and a researcher at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) in Bucharest, Romania. She serves as CEO of the Center for Research in Management from SNSPA, and as CEO of the Norwegian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.

Andreea holds a doctorate degree in Communication Sciences (2014), and a doctorate degree in Management (2022).

She began working as an independent marketing and communication specialist in 2007 and since then joined the teams of several international projects related to fostering youth entrepreneurship and the valorization of cultural heritage. In 2012 she joined SNSPA as a communication and marketing lecturer and researcher. Between 2013 and 2022 she was the program manager of four business-related master’s programs offered by SNSPA. Among her recent project-based collaborations as communication expert we cite her experience with the Eastern and South-Eastern European Fanel Network, the network of female experts in international relations from the extended Black Sea region. Since 2022 she is the manager of STRATEGICA, an international academic conference on business and economics, organized by SNSPA and the National Bank of Romania, which she previously helped organize since 2014, as logistics manager.

Dr. Mitan published 2 books as single author, 3 books as co-author, and over 35 articles and conference papers. She is the author of the first Romanian academic book on the topic of music marketing `Chart-topping – 7 music marketing models` [În top – 7 modele de marketing în muzică] (2015), and she received in 2016 a best-seller award from Tritonic publishing house for the book `The essential guide to promotional techniques` [Ghid esențial de promovare], which she co-authored. Her most recent book `Y: Popular Culture and Identity` [Y: Popular culture și identitate] (2019) tackles the topic of youth identity and culture, exploring the connection between personal values and youngsters’ musical preferences.

Currently affiliated to B.S.Lab – Business Systems Laboratory, and EBES – Eurasia Business and Economics Society, dr. Mitan also serves as a reviewer for journals published by Emerald, Elsevier, Inderscience, and MDPI.

Although not a professional musician, dr. Mitan studied belcanto and graduated in 2006 from the Arts School in Galati, Romania, and took speech level singing classes between 2010 and 2012. During her youth, she appeared in over 50 live shows in her native town and in Bucharest.

Keld Hosbond,

Acting Principal, Vice principal and Head of International Relations, RAMA DK holds degrees in Political Science from Aarhus University (Master Thesis: Globalization and Democracy in Africa) and in rhythmic music and trombone from Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg, RAMA. Appointed Head of International Relations at RAMA in 2004, he has been initiating and managing major projects within internationalization of the Higher Music Education sector in Europe and globally (e.g GLOMUS – Global Network for Music Academies (partners in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Americas), ACTinART – Nordic Network for Entrepreneurial Thinking in Arts Education, EU project Polifonia – chairman of committee on mobility, joint study programs and recognition, NordPULS Nordic Network for Music Academies- Chairman. He has been a key figure in implementing curricular innovations at RAMA within the areas of Artistic Citizenship, Music&Health, Entrepreneurship, Distance Learning, Joint Study Programmes (e.g. the Joint Programmes NOMAZZ – Nordic Master in Jazz and GLOMAS, Global Music Master) and in internationalization in general.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he has been teaching and presenting development theory, music culture and communication, pedagogical theory, entrepreneurship. Furthermore, he is an engaged performer in global/pop/jazz genres (trombone and vocals).

Dr. Nils Harald Sødal,

professor at Oslo Nation Academy of the Arts/University of Agder /

Nils H. Sødal is professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Agder and head of research at the Oslo Academy of the Arts. For a number of years, he was a soloist at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet where he performed a number of major roles. Internationally, he had his breakthrough when he made his debut at the world-renowned Semperoper in Dresden in 2011.

In 2020, Sødal defended his artistic doctorate in performance psychology, and he is today a popular lecturer in various high performing fields. Alongside an extensive educational collaboration with the top sports environment, the art field and the business world, he is currently linked to leadership development in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other major government institutions.

In addition to his artistic experience and education, Sødal has a master’s degree in political science from the University of Oslo. He has also worked as an actor at The Norwegian Theatre and has published three critically acclaimed fiction novels.

Mats Granfors is a songwriter and producer, working in a wide variety of genres, ranging all the way from folk music to electronic music. He is a talented pianist and violinist, as well as a great arranger.

As a songwriter Mats has gained success in Asia with the well-known boy band Arashi. Mats, together with Sugar House Publishing’s Janne Hyöty, hit the number one spot on the Japanese charts with the song “Your Eyes” in 2012. The album “POPCORN”, on which the song was included, also managed to reach the number one spot on the World Top 40 Chart. In 2019 the song was included on ARASHI’s 5 X 20 All the BEST !! 1999 – 2019, which reached No 1 spot on GLOBAL ALBUM CHART 2019 with sales of 3,3 M units.

As a musician Mats has participated in many recordings and has also played in live shows, as well as on tv shows. Mats is also working as a music teacher and has himself studied music in both Finland and Sweden, as well as in Denmark. Mats is one of the co-owners of Sugar House Publishing. Mats is also an entrepreneur in other branches.

Finalizarea proiectului cu titlul ”Sprijin pentru Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara în contextul SARS-COV-2” – ID 143325

Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara anunță finalizarea proiectului cu titlul ”Sprijin pentru Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara în contextul SARS-COV-2” – ID 143325, proiect finanțat prin Programul Operațional Infrastructură Mare, în cadrul apelului de proiecte POIM/964/10/1/Sprijinirea ameliorării efectelor provocate de criză în contextul pandemiei de COVID-19 și al consecințelor sale sociale.

Proiectul s-a derulat pe o perioadă de 21 luni, noiembrie 2020 – iulie 2022 și a avut ca obiectiv general asigurarea unei capacități adecvate de gestionare a crizei sanitare, prin diminuarea riscului de propagare a infecției cu SARS-CoV-2 în sistemul public de educație universitară, prin dotarea Universității de Vest din Timișoara cu aparatură destinată dezinfecției și sterilizării aerului de tipul nebulizatoarelor.

Prin implementarea proiectului 10 locații din cadrul Universității de Vest din Timișoara au fost dotate cu echipamente și aparatură tehnologică de ultimă generație, precum terminale de acces și control, încorporate cu recunoaștere facială și detectoare de temperatură.

Valoarea totală a contractului de finanțare a fost de 1.203.275,43 lei și a reprezentat finanțare 100% nerambursabilă.

Proiect cofinanțat din Fondul European de Dezvoltare Regională/Fondul de Coeziune prin Programul Operațional Infrastructură Mare 2014-2020.
